# Fees and revenue
In DeFindex, fees are performance fees: you set the rate, they are charged on the yield your vault generates, and they are split between you and DeFindex.
## How the fee works
Your end users deposit into a vault, and the vault generates yield across its diversified strategies. Fees are charged on top of that yield, and are split between you (the neobank, fintech or wallet) and the DeFindex protocol.
It is a performance fee, charged continuously, on every transaction that touches the vault, so your users are charged on the gains.
You set the rate, and you can change it whenever you want.
Our API gives you the APY already net of all of it, so the number you show your users is the number they get.

## A worked example
A vault charging 20%:
Your user deposits 1,000 and the vault earns 100 on top of it. The fee comes out of that 100, and at 20% that is 20. Your user's balance ends at 1,080, and the 20 is split between you and DeFindex.
## When it reaches you
Fees accumulate in the vault and you can claim them at any time. You can automate that through our API or from the Console. At a minimum they are collected once a month.
## Stable APY
A vault's APY fluctuates. With the Stable APY product you offer a fixed rate instead, and everything the vault earns above it is charged as fee.
Say the yield moves between 6% and 10% and you offer 4%. Whatever the vault earns above that 4% becomes your fee.
