# Introduction

> What a vault can put the money into.

A vault does not know how a lending market or an AMM works. A strategy does. Each one wraps a single yield source and exposes the same six methods to any vault, which is why adding a yield source means writing and auditing one strategy rather than changing the vault every partner already uses.

Which strategies a given vault may use is fixed when the vault is created. Deployed addresses are on [Contract Deployments](https://docs.defindex.io/contract-deployments/index.md), and what each one is worth right now is on [defindex.io/strategies](https://www.defindex.io/strategies).
